To diagnose the condition of the vagina, its walls, as well as the walls of the uterus, modern medicine uses colposcopy. This is a method of examining the condition of the internal genitalia, which can detect the appearance of erosion, polyps and cervical cancer.

From the usual gynecological examination procedure differs using devices with additional lighting, optical magnification and colposcope.
